Long lines for short thrills

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! I had a geat idea the other day when I was watching the news! Well here it is ... I thought about going down to the local "Best Buy" and buying about 50 computers and cell phones and putting them on the stage at church and put signs around town advertising an electronics give-a-way! Sound good! (right) Of course not ... I would never do that. I just wanted to get you to think about a few things. 1). What makes people stand out in the cold early in the morning to go spend money. 2) Why don't they get upset and complain about being there? Could it be that they feel that by getting there early and even if they have to wait, the reward out-weighs the wait? Could it be our selfish nature to want to get fulfilled and satisfied? Could it be they have reason to believe that if they don't get there, someone else will get their spot? I'm not saying that it's wrong to stand out there ... but I wonder how many of those same people were standing in line waiting to get into church on Sunday morning. What God offers is so much more valuable than these "temporary" frills. Again, I'm not "hatin" ... just wondering. Your thoughts ...

To God be the glory!

I have been looking around the net at some of the local church of christ websites and I must say that I am really impressed. We at Arlington Rd were among the first in the area to have a full-up website and we are back and better than ever. We should be up and running by months end (November 07). check it out: www.churchofchrist-arlingtonrd.com.

Today was an interesting day ...

Today was an interesting day. All days are special above ground. Anyway, I got a chance to talk to someone who hears me on the radio weekly ... or at least a few times. He asked me some questions about the church of Christ and I was glad to answer. It's funny how you can explain your salvation experience with someone trying to get them to see things the bible way, and they claim they did things the same way ... for example, if I say that in the bible, all those who heard the word and believed the word, were immediately baptized and how you can't argue with the bible, their story always seems to change. Suddenly they change their tune and say "Yea, that's the way it happened to me too!" Hmmmn. Does not compute ...

Well, it's time ...

Hello world! It's me. I guess it's about time to get on the ball and start blogging. So much will be said ... so much needs to be said. Right now I want to welcome you to my blog. I am the minister of the Arlington Rd Church of Christ - we meet 2106 Arlington Rd in the City of Hopewell, VA. "There is HOPE in the WELL". "We are the church were everybody is somebody and nobody is left behind. Every visitor is welcome and every neighbor is a friend. We exist to Seek the Lost, Support the Saved, and Serve the Savior!"

Our worship style is awesome - traditional, but untraditional. We love the WORD of God and study it seriously. We have Youth ministry, Senior and Singles ministries, education and prison ministries as well as TV and radio ministries. Come check us out. I will be putting our schedule up in the next few days with all of our events and services we offer and will offer in the future.

Peace
